Like last year’s Punch Egg Roll, General Cigar turns to Chinese food take-out (or delivery) once again to celebrate the Year of the Rat.

In mid-February, retailers can expect the Punch Chop Suey, a 7 inch by 37 ring gauge panetela that will come in 25-count bundles and packaged in boxes made to resemble old-fashioned containers of Chinese-American food.

Made with a shaggy foot, each cigar is about as long as the chopsticks that serve as the box’s handles. Novelty aside, Chop Suey is also quite affordable, retailing for $5.49 each.

“We had a lot of fun with Punch Egg Roll last year so we decided to come out with a similar release for 2020,” said Ed Lahmann, senior brand manager of Punch and Chop Suey’s creator.

The cigars are made in the Dominican Republic at General Cigar Dominicana, and consist of an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and a filler blend of tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Only 3,650 take-out boxes are being released.

As a bonus, the inside of each band has a fortune that comes courtesy of snarky brand mascot Mr. Punch.
