The 20th anniversary edition of the Festival del Habano will be held from February 26 to March 2, 2018 in Havana, Cuba. The annual gathering will feature the usual lineup of gala dinners, seminars, visits to factories and the tobacco-growing region of the Vuelta Abajo, as well as the International Habanos Sommelier contest.
The Cuban cigar industry typically releases several new cigars at the Festival, and dedicates the final night of the weeklong event to a cigar brand. In 2016 it was Cohiba, celebrating the luxury smoke’s 50th anniversary. Last year Montecristo was the cigar of honor on the final night, as Cuba showcased the first samples of Montecristo Linea 1935 (which have yet to appear in the retail channels).
Habanos S.A. did not release any more details about 2018 event. There is no word on whether or not a specific brand will be featured, or if any international celebrities will be attending.
Habanos says more information will be released around the end of September.
