Cigar review:
I bought this cigar awhile back from Shamlux, a Granada Hills, Ca. cigar lounge. Honestly I forgot I had it so surprised myself by finding it in my humidor. The Matilide Renacer is produced at Tabaclera La Matilde by the well-respected Jose Seijas, a cigar veteran.
Brand/Name of Cigar: Matilde Renacer Lancero
Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
Size: 7 x 40
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Dominican Republic
Filler: Dominican and Nicaragua
Shape: Lancero
Price: MSRP, $9.00 single, I purchased the cigar from Shamlux Cigar Lounge
Where and When Smoked: Los Angeles, Ca. Lone Wolf Cigar Lounge, 8/7/18
Appearance/Construction: Classic Lancero style with a medium brown wrapper, smooth , semi oily feel. Construction appears a bit rustic with small veins showing but overall appears well made. The cigar band is a bit difficult to read as the font is on the small side.
Flavor/Taste and Aroma: First third: Opening with a pleasing smooth combination of cocoa, carob and almonds. Mild with no discernible spice.
Second third: Still very mild , received some flowery notes and mint. Thought it might deliver a bit of a spice kick but did not.
Final third: An uninspiring cigar with a bland taste and not very complex.
Smoking Characteristics: Stayed lit, clean without any issues or problems.
Conclusion/Overall Impression: Not a very complex review for not a very complex cigar. Left me wanting more but nothing happened.
Final Thoughts and the Numbers: Cigars should leave you satisfied with a taste that gives you an experience that both the smoker and manufacturer is proud of. The cigar was pretty limp.
Appearance: 3.5 out of 5
Flavor/Taste and Aroma: 2.8 out of 5
Smoking Characteristics: 3 out of 5
Conclusion/Overall Impression: 3.1 out of 5
Sorry but this is a pass for me.
Keep smoking
