I decided to wait a week try the cigar again and give it a second chance. This part of the review will only focus on the flavor, taste and aroma. I smoked the cigar at the Lone Wolf Cigar Lounge in Los Angeles, Ca. on 5/20/2019
First third: A very distinct combination of black pepper, vanilla and citrus. I also grabbed a hint of the sherry from the cask. This was an unusual taste which I was not familiar with but very pleasant.
Second third: The black pepper became less pronounced with a sweet coffee also in the blend. The total taste was smooth, flavorful , medium to full at this stage.
Final third: The cigar became truer to its name as I definitely tasted the bourbon coming into play. It was not overpowering but gave the complexity a nice, added kick.
Conclusion/Overall Impression: I discounted the poor construction the first time around as a fluke and fortunately for me the cigar came through as a very enjoyable experience. Diesel Cigars are not as well-known as other smokes in the General Cigar portfolio but I think they have hit a good spot with this blend.
Final Thoughts and the Numbers:
Make this cigar as part of your rotation if you desire a medium to full body experience. The profile is unique and a winner.
