Cigar review: I was present in the 90’s that was the La Gloria Cubana frenzy for their products. Impossible to find so you would hoard any product that made it to your humidor.
The history of the sale of the company to General Cigar has been well documented but this review is about the new product, La Gloria Cubana Spanish Press. Here is their description of the process. ” Spanish press refers to the technique used in finishing the rolled cigars in which the cigars are placed into special trays with dividers immediately after rolling, givng themm a squared shape for an improved burn and draw.”
As always how and where I receive the cigar does not impact my subjective judgment of the smoke. Try the cigar yourself and make your own decision.

Appearance/Construction: A box pressed beauty with a striking cigar band that makes the cigar shine. Solid feel, oily to the touch and smooth. No issues evident in the construction. Nice brown hue.
Flavor/Taste and Aroma: First Third: First pop of spice/black pepper with a very pleasant mix of coffee, mint and citrus. Creamy and smooth.
Second Third: The spice tones down to a creamier version of nuts, cocoa, orange. This is a very cool transition for the blend.
Final Third: The Spanish Press is making a very good impression with a profile that will please just about all palates. My cigar senses are beaming.
Smoking Characteristics: Even burn, no relights, darkish grey ash. Cool with no hot spots.
Conclusion/Overall Impression: General Cigar and of course the La Gloria Cubana team has put together a fine product with a great pricepoint. You need to get a five pack for your enjoyment.
Final Thoughts and the Numbers: While not the hot brand it once was, La Gloria Cubana makes a case for a quality smokes at a reasonable price point.
