Nat Sherman New York City Townhouse Closes
Nat Sherman shut down its New York City Townhouse this afternoon, ending a 90-year-history of selling cigars. A sign marking the closing of the shop went up around 3:45 pm.
“We just did our last transaction, we are out of product, and it’s time to say goodbye,” said vice president Michael Herklots, via an Instagram post. “So, after 90 years we want to thank you for your support, we want to thank you for your friendship, we want to thank you for your business.”
The closing comes on the heels of the early August announcement that parent company Altria Inc. was shutting down Nat Sherman International after it failed to sell the business.
The store was scheduled to close by the end of September.
In addition to the store being closed, the company’s cigar lines will also be discontinued.
