Cigar Review

A friend of mine described this brand as an old school company. Does that mean old school values such as quality control, workmanship, a good  price point? It could also suggest a company that is behind the times struggling to make it in today’s market environment.

Brick House is a venerated cigar establishment that has produced blends on and off since 1937. I have not had a Brickhouse in quite some time so I was looking forward to this tasting. As always how and where I received the cigar does not impact my subjective judgment. Please make your own decision if my comments draw your interest. I welcome your thoughts on my webpage or twitter account.

Brand/ Name of Cigar:

Brickhouse/ Churchill

Country of Origin: Nicaragua

Size: 7.2 x50

Wrapper: Nicaraguan

Filler: Nicaraguan

Shape: Churchill

Price: Part of a sampler purchase app. $7.00, Lone Wolf Cigar Lounge, Los Angeles

Where and When Smoked: Los Angeles , April 23, 2017

Appearance/ Construction:

An earthy looking cigar with an oily sheen, good resiliency to the touch with no hard or soft spots. No prominent veins or construction issues noticeable at the initial glance. Not a striking looking band but it is attractive and complements the overall look.

Flavor/Taste and Aroma:

This is a smooth operator with an inital combination of nuts, cedar and a real taste of wood. I describe it as medium profile and very comfortable to the palate. Very impressive start.

Smoking Characteristics:

No harsh taste at all, no tunnel problems , stayed lit, even burn and cool. Not much to say about these characteristics which is very good. You are smoking a cigar without a problem in the world. I was sitting in my back yard, the 80 degrees hitting me and drinking an ice tea. Pretty good huh?

Conclusion/Overall Impression:

This cigar exceeded all my expectations and is a top flight product. When you take all the variables that makes an outstanding smoke , The Brick House has them all. Construction, taste, flavor and the pleasure of making your time disappear .

Final Thoughts and numbers:

At any price point this is a superior cigar and worth a box purchase. I found the Brick House Churchill as good as any blends I have smoked in the last year. I realize this cigar has been around for quite a spell but so what?
