Fighting for the Freedom to Enjoy Premium Cigars
Cigar Rights of America (CRA) is the first and only consumer-based public advocacy group fighting to protect the individual rights to enjoy premium cigars. Over the past twenty years, the anti-tobacco movement’s reach has broadened, and your ability to enjoy premium cigars and freely participate in a relaxing, social activity has been continually regulated and restricted.
Membership in CRA adds your voice to the fight against tax increases and smoking bans. Members receive real-time updates on pending cigar legislation and have access to tools that allow them to affectively advocate for their rights as premium cigar enthusiasts.
A Real Threat
The threat to individuals who enjoy premium cigars and the small businesses that are the backbone of the industry is very real:
- Pending Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations could cripple the premium cigar industry by banning walk-in humidors, defacing or covering cigar box artwork, and requiring manufacturers to submit their blends for “testing” before they can be sold
- 48 states have enacted cigar taxes, with rates of up to 75% in some states
- All 50 states have some form of smoking ban and more restrictive legislation is being debated in town halls and state houses across the country
CRA’s Mission
CRA is a national advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the rights of the growers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers of premium cigars. In an effort to combat the threats to producing, selling, and enjoying premium cigars, CRA serves as a voice at each level of government and with the public at-large on issues of significance to the industry as a whole, and the cigar consumers of America, specifically.
