The latest version of La Palina Goldie, a limited-edition cigar that’s only released in small quantities is now shipping to cigar stores.

Goldie is made with an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper, an Ecuadoran binder and filler leaf from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. According to La Palina Cigars, there’s a small amount of Nicaraguan medio tiempo leaf in the filler. Prized for its rarity and rich smoking characteristics, medio tiempo is a small, full-bodied sprouting of leaves that grow infrequently at the top of some tobacco plants.

Made in Miami at the El Titan de Bronze cigar factory, La Palina Goldie has appeared in various shapes and sizes over the years, and it now returns to retail stores as a Churchill. The cigar measures 7 inches by 48 ring gauge and comes packaged in 10-count wooden boxes. Only 1,000 boxes will be released. Because they’re made in Miami, the cigars don’t come cheap: the Goldie Churchill is priced at $23 per cigar.

La Palina Goldie was first released in 2012 in a slender 6 inch by 38 ring gauge shape called Laguito No. 2. In recent years, Goldie has appeared as a 6 by 52 Toro and a 5 7/8 by 52 format called Cañonazo. All Goldies are made with a signature pigtail cap. This Churchill is the eighth size in the Goldie line. The cigar made its debut at the PCA trade show earlier this summer.
