Padilla moves Finest Hour production to Nicaragua |
Padilla moves Finest Hour production to Nicaragua. The cigars, which were released in January of 2019, are now coming from Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez. The original release Padilla Finest Hour cigars are coming from an undisclosed factory in Honduras.
Winston Churchill
The Padilla Finest Hour is inspired by the British politician Winston Churchill. There is also a movie about Churchill called Darkest Hour. Davidoff has a line called Late Hour dedicated to the man who gave name to the 7×52 Julieta No.2 vitola.

There are three blends of the Padilla Finest Hour. Blends that will not change according to Ernesto Padilla, even though production moves to Nicaragua. The Padilla Finest Hour Oscuro is a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers with a double Nicaraguan binder. The wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf. The Sun Grown version is a Nicaraguan puro with a Sun Grown Habano wrapper. The mildest of the three is Padilla Finest Hour Connecticut. It has an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. Again a double Nicaraguan binder is used. The filler comes from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. There are rumors of an upcoming fourth blend, with a Sumatra wrapper.
The cigars are available as a 5×52 Robusto, a 6×52 Toro, and a 6×60 Gordo. The cigars come in boxes of 20 cigars. The prices won’t change either according to a press release.
Padilla & Fernandez
Ernesto Padilla and A.J. Fernandez have a long-lasting working relationship. The first collaboration started over a decade ago. Fernandez made several Padilla cigars back in the day. But even to this date, they work together. The soon to be released Padilla Poetica comes from Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez as well.
