The La Palina Goldie Prominente is returning to cigar shops. Originally introduced in 2021 as an exclusive to those who attended that year’s PCA trade show, it was brought back once again for preorder at this year’s show in July. The cigars are on their way to shops now.

Released in limited quantities each year, the Goldie line was created in 2012 and was named in tribute to Goldie Drell Paley, the wife of Sam Paley, who founded La Palina in 1896.

Like other Goldies, the Prominente is rolled at the El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami. The smoke is a toro that measures 6 1/2 inches by 48 ring gauge, and it’s topped with the Goldie brand’s signature fantail cap. The blend is Ecuador Habano wrapper, Ecuadoran binder and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.

According to the company, the Nicaraguan fillers include a small amount of medio tiempo—a sought-after sprouting of small leaves that infrequently appear on the highest part of some tobacco plants.

Production for this model is limited to just 500 boxes of ten cigars. Each Prominente has a suggested retail price of $25.
