Cigar Review: Partegas 1845 Extra Oscuro
Partegas have a long history as a Cuban blend and as a General Cigar blend. Whenever you get a new batch of smokes, there is always the question of how long should you let it sit in your humidor before you partake in smoking it? I gave it about a two-week time span before I decided it was time to smoke away.
This cigar was given to me by General Cigar in order to review. As always, how and where I received the cigar does not influence my subjective viewpoint. Please try the cigar yourself and make your own opinion. Let me know your thinking about this cigar.

Appearance/Construction:
Deep brown wrapper with an oily feel. Tight construction which hopefully will not impede the flow of the smoke. Small veins, stylish , handsome cigar with an attractive band.
Flavor/Taste and Aroma:
Initial pop of rich chocolate and fruit, perhaps cherries? Pleasing combo as I expected a spicy start. Burned with a medium strength profile that was consistent throughout the first third.
As we smoked further got the pepper shot I was expecting with a heavy intake of power. It became a full strength cigar which is the nature of the tobacco combo that was used. You needed to sit back and relax with this cigar and not let it overtake your palate. Control this baby with even puffs.
Smoking characteristics:
Pretty even burn line through most of the smoke but the final third waffled a bit. Had one relight which did not change the dynamic of the cigar. The ash was fairly dark.
Conclusion/Overall Impression:
Heavy cigars need time to age and mellow out. Initially thought I would wait a month or so before It would smoked. However, the cigar kept staring at me in my humidor and did not have enough patience to let it season.
Final Thoughts and the Numbers:
Mostly a positive smoking experience. It is powerful but this cigar was built for a heavy load that will keep your thoughts on the overall development. Keep it in your humidor for several months and then try. I would say buy a couple and give them your attention.
