Cigar review: My comrades who smoke cigars regularly are not  familiar with the Villiger Line of premium cigars. They think Villiger makes only small cigars and pipe tobacco.  This perception I think is hurting the growth of Villiger Cigars.

The cigars I have reviewed have been of high quality , reasonable price point and well crafted. In my local area, Villiger cigars are not either carried by the B and M’s or not even known by the merchants.

Perhaps, cigar bloggers like myself need to spread the word how good the products are.

The company needs to make a real effort too , so consumers are more aware of what they are doing.

As always how and where I receive the cigar does not impact my subjective judgment. I suggest trying the cigar yourself and decide.

Brand/Name of Cigar: Villiger/Cuellar Black Forest

Country of Origin: Domincan Republic

Size: 6 x 54

Wrapper: San Andres Maduro

Binder: Domincan Republic

Filler; Domincan Republic

Shape: Toro Gordo

Price: MSRP: $8.00 , I received the cigar gratis from Villiger Cigars for review

Where and When Smoked; Los Angeles, Ca. 1/19/2020

Appearance/Construction: Box pressed with a silky, smooth feel to the touch, solid with a firm tightness. Medium brown wrapper with a semi oily feel and a good looking double cigar band.  Maduro lovers will appreciate how good looking the smoke is. No obvious faults or defects.

Flavor/Taste/Aroma: First third: A cool blend of coco, molasses, coffee and cinnamon. This is a mild ride of a smooth, uninterrupted cigar  highway but waiting for some action to pick up.

Second Third: Starting to get the wilder ride I was hoping for. Spice is now adding excitment to the blend,  as the cigar road is building excitment.  You want to feel the energy now coming to the smoke.

Final Third: I am now getting the pop ,  black pepper, adds octane to the cigar, cranking up the power and strength.

Smoking Characteristics: Good overall burn with a slight issue in the mid to last third. Not a big deal. No relights or tunneling . Construction remained mostly true.

Conclusion/Overall Impression: The spice made the cigar and added  more complexity.  I would  like to get this flavor more in the overall blend. It would be smart for me to let the cigar age and I am pretty postive , the spice would kick in earlier in the development of the overall profile.

Final Thoughts and the Numbers: Again Villiger Cigars has proven it can match any cigar company with very worthy smokes. Now if more people knew about them , the cigar world would be a better place.

You need to buy a 5 pack or more.

Villiger if you need my help, let me know.
