Cigar news: Don’t crux me out.
Crux Limitadas Coming to Market
Two new limited-edition sizes by Crux Cigar Company are on the way to retailers: Crux Limitada “The Show” 2020 and Crux Limitada PB5 2020.
“The Show,” which measures 5 inches by 52 ring gauge and retails for $10.99, is rolled with a 109-style belicoso campana head that Crux refers to as a “Marblehead.” Crux has been releasing “The Show” every year since 2016. If you’re wondering why “The Show” says “IPCPR” on the box instead of “PCA,” it’s because the packaging for this year’s edition was printed before the IPCPR changed its name to the PCA. This cigar was available only to retailers who attended last year’s trade show.
The PB5 debuted in 2015 as Crux’s first limited-edition, and has been released every year since. Sporting a semi-box-press shape in the tradition of the Cuban box press, the cigar measures 5 ¾ by 54 and retails for $12.99.
Both cigars are made in Nicaragua at Nestor Plasencia’s factory in Estelí, and both have the same blend: a Nicaraguan wrapper grown by Plasencia, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.
The smokes are available in 20-count boxes and 20-count bundles consisting of four five-packs with a total production run of 1,000 boxes and 1,000 bundles.
