Carlos Fuente Sr. blended the Casa Cuba and he included Cuban seed Dominican fillers. The blend is an homage to traditions carried by Fuente Sr’s earlier years blending cigars.

The band is a red and gold shield with a black circular background, all of which is surrounded by a golden wreath. All of this sits on a golden band with a ribbon of red on it. The text is a little difficult to read and the band, to my eyes, is a little busy.

The cigar has a medium brown wrapper with a decent amount of oil on the surface and there are some visible veins. The cigar gives off a strong cedar smell. It cuts cleanly and lights easily.

It starts with tangy sort of spiciness to it. It also tastes like, well, like tobacco. There are hints of pepper and cedar. The tangy, almost reminiscent of bbq, spiciness takes the forefront of the cigar for the first third.

In the second third the natural tobacco flavors overtake the tangy spice. It becomes creamier, with a subtle sweetness. The sweetness becomes kind of like a chocolate taste. There’s another taste that reminds me of the way herb gardens smell.

The flavor profile ramps up in the final third. It tastes of cedar and spice, with that sweet chocolatey flavor still present but the tangy sweetness comes back and overshadows these. The cigar finishes out with this tangy sweetness and herbs taste to it.

The cigar was pleasant and performed well. There was a light, silvery gray ash that held some firmness. The burn rate was even and it reminded a cooler smoke thanks to the ash. It required no touch ups. It was interesting enough to enjoy it but not distracting. I would recommend this cigar to see if it’s something you would add to your humidor.
