Cigar review: I received several messages from followers on why I have not entered more reviews on the site. I now aim to correct this with the following  entry.

IMG_0658.jpegCAO has a new product in the market place called ” Mortal Coil.”  This product,  ” resurrects Andullo, the oldest tobacco fermentation method in the Dominican Republic. “

As explained, ” Andullo tobacco is made  following the time-honored methods of cultivation and curing sungrown Habano see tobaccos. Andullo tobacco is wrapped tightly in crafted palm tree pods known as “yaguas” that are compressed with the rope coiled around the pod.”

Suffice it to say , this process takes a hell of a long time to work through.  The question is , how does it taste?  You shall soon find out.

As always, how and where I receive the cigar does not impact my subjective judgment . I suggest try it yourself and make your own opinion.

Where and When Smoked: Los Angele, Ca. 3/29/2021

Appearance/Construction:  A massive cigar band hits you in the face but looks good for marketing purposes. Mottled brown wrapper with an oily feel to the touch. Solid construction with no obvious faults.  Small veins are present but I like the presentation.

Flavor/Taste and Aroma: First third: Soft taste of  chocolate with easy going spice.  Hints of citrus and cherries. A rather mild start to the cigar.

Second third:  More spice now present with the chocolate fading into the background. The cherries keep hitting my palate with a more robust take on the taste. Medium profile.

Final third: Still medium in strength with a fruit flavored mix of cherries and other citrus. The cigar does not have any harshness or bitterness.

Smoking Characteristics: Good draw, no relights , medium grey ash.  Construction stayed even with no problems.

Conclusion/Overall Impression/Final Thoughts: I liked the cigar as the blend was smooth and mostly flavorful.

Could have kicked in more spice with an addition of black pepper. Overall it was a respectable smoke and enjoyable. Good for a single purchase but not for a fiver.

The Numbers: Appearance/Construction: 3.5 out of 5

Flavor/Taste and Aroma: 3.7 out of 5

Smoking Characteristics: 3.5 out of 5

Overall Conclusion: 3.5 out of 5

Keep smoking
