Cigar news you can use: TV or not TV

Cigar ads on television were a common sight in the past, particularly during the 1960s to 1990s. However, due to increasing regulations and changing societal attitudes towards tobacco products, cigar ads are now largely absent from television.

In the United States, the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement of 1998 prohibited outdoor and transit advertising, as well as advertising on TV and radio, for cigarettes and other tobacco products, including cigars. Additionally, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has enforced strict guidelines for the advertising of tobacco products, including cigars, to ensure that they do not target youth or make false health claims.

While cigar ads are no longer seen on television, some cigar companies have found ways to promote their products through other channels, such as:

  1. Print media: Cigar ads can still be found in magazines and publications that cater to adults.
  2. Online advertising: Cigar companies can advertise on websites and social media platforms that are age-restricted or targeted towards adults.
  3. Sponsorships and events: Cigar companies may sponsor events or partner with organizations that align with their brand values.
  4. Word-of-mouth and influencer marketing: Cigar enthusiasts and influencers may share their experiences and recommendations with others.

Keep in mind that regulations and restrictions on tobacco advertising vary by country and region, so cigar ads may still be seen on television in some parts of the world.
